icon battle

So who wants to do a Batfam comics icon battle?

participants:

sucksucksmile

sietepecados

how should we do this?
i'm thinking an icon per character, and we choose our own caps?
we should break down who we want to include.
and we can always supply a selection of random caps if people unfamiliar with all the characters want to join.

i know i'll probably need some caps for damian and jason, i think the only thing i've read them in is random batman comics and death of a family.

Hmm. OTOH I like to pick my own caps so I'm all for that option, but on the other, there are characters I probs wouldn't have much material lying around for too, like Tim or Steph.

And yes. Who do we consider batfam? We should indeed pin that down.

Yep. Bruce, Dick, Babs, Damian, Tim, Steph, Jason, and Cass is what I consider actual batfam. I have nothing against including Kate. What about Harper Row?

Edit because I totally forgot to put Jason in there, omg don't tell anyone. XD

harper is literally just getting introduced in the shit i'm reading.
i'd be down with it. so far i just know her as harper but i know she becomes a robin right?

Well she kinda becomes... an aborted Robin? Telling you exactly would spoil you for Batman & Robin Eternal. I'm okay with leaving her out, though, she's a New 52 creation and while I like her, a lot of people don't consider her ~actual batfam.

i dont know that i'm going to read batman and robin eternal. i'm not even reading batman and robin as is. just the ones that tied into death of the family.

she seemed alright in the issues i've seen her in so far.

Yeah I feel you there. He totally IS batfam but... most I icons his face? So let's just... not. Unless someone else feels strongly about him.

I love B&RE because it gets all the batkids together, and also, you know, Midnighter meeting the fam and also Dick feelings aplenty. XD But yeah let me know if you want me to spoil you to explain how she ties into it.

detective comics first.
then batwoman v1 0.
and then batwoman v2 1 - 40.

i haven't read past #16. but i love her so much. i'm so excited for marguerite bennett's new batwoman series.

Batman Eternal has some nice batkids stuff too (NEAR-CANON BABS/JASON) but as a run it's.... eh. It has some canon elements that tie into other runs and storylines, but in all honesty, I mostly skip-read it.

And lol whoops, I have... not read a lot of that, tbh. A few of the events, yeah, but, mostly the batfam side of it and not much more. XD

MAYBE? HMM. I'd say only bats and birds but I'm currently breaking my brain to get Midnighter in here since I NEED more icons of my boy (not like I can't make my own literally whenever I want but that's not the same) and like he was in Grayson and Batman & Robin Eternal so it totally COULD COUNT so I am conflicted. XD

Hey new thought what if everyone gets to pick an associated non-bird to throw into the ring? :D?

at least with steph and tim, there are multiple incarnations i can choose between. (or at least steph. i think tim and jason are the people i know the absolute least about.)

Honestly I'm indifferent to her. We could, but I won't miss her if we don't include her :)
Can we make icons of characters even when they are in a different comics. I mean there is a lot of Kate Kane in DC Bombshells, so can I use that? :)

and if someone needs caps i'm sure between the three of us and maybe some other people, we can accumulate a little selection of caps for whoever needs them.

As many icons as we can manage sounds good. Soooooo. I can definitely scrape together some caps or Dick and Midnighter. Jason too, though from a more limited range of books. I will definitely need caps of Tim and Cassandra and Babs and Steph. Maybe Damian. (Oh fuck I have a very limited selection of digital comics here, don't I. I have more in print. I'm finally on the convergence event. So I have officially seen Cassandra in the Batgirl two parter. For the first time. I figure I can just google her if need be.

Although B&R eternal is shortly after convergence so I should be there soon.
